ELKHORN -- The Walworth County Sheriff's Office is releasing never-before-seen evidence in hopes of sparking new leads in a 1982 cold case.

Authorities discovered the body of 34-year-old Barbara Nelson on Aug. 5, 1982 in a cornfield along Bray Road near Elkhorn.

Investigators believe she had been abducted from the Albion convenience store where she worked along the I94 near Edgerton.

WMTV reports that investigators have two pieces of evidence that they hope someone might recognize.

One is a vest, perhaps part of a uniform, that was found on Nelson's body. The vest did not belong to her. The other is a bleach-stained T-shirt that was discovered nearby.

Investigators also say witnesses described a pickup truck seen at the store around the time of Nelson's disappearance.

"It's a very unique looking truck, and I think the bedrail extending up at a 45 degree angle is quite significant along with the bleached area on the driver's side door," at detective told the TV station.
