MILWAUKEE -- Judging is under way at the Wisconsin News Photographer Association's annual Picture of the Year Contest. Winning photographs will be on display Saturday at the group's annual convention.

Judges are Kevin Miyazaki, Erv Gebhard, retired staff photographer for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and E. Jason Wambsgans of the Chicago Tribune.

The judges for yesterday's student contest were:

-Kristyna Wentz-Graff, photojournalist, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Evan Siegle, photojournalist, Green Bay Press-Gazette and Mary Catanese, photography instructor, Mt. Mary College (former photojournalist, CNI Newspapers)

The contests are part of the professional association's annual convention, held March 11-13, 2010 in Milwaukee. Speakers for this years seminars include E. Jason Wambsgans of the Chicago Tribune, Heinz Kluetmeier of Sports Illustrated, Kevin Miyazaki and Aaron Johnson, creator of "What the Duck," a popular comic strip that tells the tales of a camera-toting, Photoshop-using duck.
