The Round Prairie Cemetery in LaGrange Township is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 12 and Tamarack Road.

On May 4, 1844, Nelson Cornish and his wife, Melinda, sold the property for this cemetery to the trustees for $10. The first meeting of the Round Prairie Burying Ground Association was held in the Round Prairie School House on April 6, 1863.

Records indicate that the fence was repaired in 1870. In 1898, an additional half acre was purchased, and a new fence was installed at a cost of $108.

One of the earliest tombstones commemorates John Wishart who was born in 1772 and died in 1844. His wife Ann was born in 1773 and died in 1857.

There are three stones for people who died in 1846. They include C.C. Beach, who died Jan. 20, 1846 at the age of 29, William Bronson died Jan. 22, 1846 at age 19 and John S. Bronson died Dec. 22, 1846 at age 26. The two latter notations were on the same stone.

There are a least 20 members of the Bromley family buried in this cemetery. The Bromleys came to this area in 1844. George Bromley served as the town treasurer in 1869 and as an associate town supervisor in 1875 to 1877, 1893, 1896 and 1901-05.

Edward Bromley was an associate town supervisor in 1882 and 1898.

Will M. Bromley was the town treasurer in 1901-02. William Bromley served as the towns’ Justice of the Peace in 1904-05 and 1907-08.
