You will find this popular restaurant at the intersection of Wisconsin Highway 89 and County Highway A in Richmond Township.
Although the Duck Inn has that particular kind of poultry on the menu, that is not how the name originated.
During the Prohibition era, it was a speakeasy, where customers could “duck in” for a drink.
The bartender would serve them with the admonition to “speak easy.”
When Prohibition ended, liquor licenses were given to the rural areas with a clause that food also would be served. This led to the establishment of many supper clubs.
Over the years, there have been several owners of the property. In 1994, Jeff and Nora Karbash bought the business, and these days, the encourage patrons to “speak freely.”
