Delavan will hold a Cinco de Mayo celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday downtown.

We'd like to post photos from the event to post in our community news photo gallery. Send your photos HERE, or e-mail a link to your video HERE.

The community event will include a mariachi festival, live music and food vendors.

Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican holiday, commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle of Puebla in 1862. The festival caps a week of events commemorating the holiday throughout Walworth County.

In downtown Whitewater Tuesday, the TRIO Mariachi Band, UW-Whitewater’s ALMA Dancers the Waukesha 4-H Club and Razas Unidas dance troupe performed.

At Delavan-Darien High School, which has a student population of more than 28 percent Latino, the holiday was recognized with several events.

An all-school assembly was held Wednesday morning, featured two Latino students explaining what Cinco de Mayo is to the student body.

Celebrate a Mexican holiday in Mexico, not in the USA where we celebrate the 4th of July.
