-- Feeding Walworth County charity food drive, Nov. 29: Bring your nonperishible food items between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, to Kunes Country Ford-Lincoln, Wisconsin Highway 50, Delavan. All food items are donated to local food pantries. Reggie Michaels of WSLD Country will be broadcasting live from the collection site. (262)728-5544
-- Christmas for the Kids drive, through Nov. 30: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at maurices at Delavan Crossings, 2121 E. Geneva St., Delavan: Collection of nonperishable food; household cleaning supplies; wrapping paper; cookie tins; new, unwrapped gifts including toys, books, clothing, sports equipment, outerwear etc. For each donation, people will receive a coupon for 20 percent off any one regular-priced maurices item. -- Burlington Cares food drive through Dec. 31: Bring your nonperishable food items or monetary donations to the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce, City or Town of Burlington Administration office or Love Inc., Help keep the Love Inc. food pantry shelves stocked. -- Donate new hats, scarves and gloves and nonperishible food items through Dec. 31: Support the Delavan community by donating cold-weather accessories for local school children and food for the Delavan Food Pantry. Drop off at Community Bank, 820 E. Geneva St., Delavan. (262) 728-2265
-- Fill the food pantry shelves collection, Nov. 15 through Jan. 3: The Animal Medical Center of Whitewater, 12524 E. County Highway N, Whitewater is a drop off location for donations of nonperishable food items for people and pets. Items will help stock the shelves of the Whitewater Food Pantry. -- Santa Paws: Pet Food for Fines, Dec. 1 to 30: Help the homeless animals at Lakeland Animal Shelter and reduce your overdue fines at the Aram Public Library. During the month of December, the library, 404 E. Walworth Ave., Delavan, will collect pet food (both canned and dry) and clay cat litter for the animal shelter. In exchange for your donation, the library will reduce your overdue fines. This program does not apply to fees for lost or damaged items.
-- Whitewater Cares collection for charity, Nov. 30 through Dec. 7: Businesses in Whitewater will be collecting items for area organizations. The SweetSpot Cafe, 226 W. Whitewater St. is collecting hats, mittens and scarves and Studio 84, 121 W. Center St. is collecting new art materials for the Walworth County Holiday Care Program. GMA Printing, 136 W. Main St., Binning & Dickens Insurance, 329 W. Center St. and the Robin’s Nest, 165 W. Main St. are collecting nonperishable food items for the Whitewater Food Pantry. Dale’s Booter, 155 W. Main St., is collecting new and gently worn footwear for Soles4Souls. Hamilton House Bed & Breakfast, 328 W. Main St., is collecting new and gently used kitchen items (pots, pans, utensils, bake ware) for the Bethel House which provides assistance to homeless families with children.
-- The Collegiate DECA club is holding a food drive, toy drive and winter clothing drive from Nov. 28 through Dec. 17: People may bring their nonperishable food along with new toys and gently used winter wear such as jackets, boots, hats, gloves and scarves for all ages to Gateway Technical College, 400 County Road H, Elkhorn. There will be bins inside each building. -- Walworth-Fontana Rotary Club collecting donations for Food Basket Distribution project: This year the club is in need of a $50 sponsorship for each basket. Make checks payable to Walworth-Fontana Rotary Foundation Inc., PO Box 368, Walworth WI 53184. -- The Walworth County Sunday News food and toy drive now is collecting donations of unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 14. In past years, donations have gone to local groups such as the Twin Oaks Homeless Shelter in Darien. Donations can be dropped off weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the CSI Media office of Walworth County Sunday located at 120 Wright St., Delavan. For more information call (262) 728-3424.
-- Holiday Care program collection of new toys and clothing for children and money to purchase gift certificates for food, ongoing: Last year, this program served 637 families with 1,105 children. Drop off donations to Department of Health and Human Services Center, attention Holiday Care, W4051 County Highway NN, Elkhorn. --Mitten (and hats and scarves) drive, through Nov. 26: The Page Turners book club of Matheson Memorial Library are collecting hats, mittens and scarves for babies, kids, teens and adults at the library, 101 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn. The items will be distributed through the Elkhorn Area School District and the St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church.
-- Support our troops, ongoing: The Support Our Troops Committee/ American Legion is looking for donations of baseball/softball gloves and balls to be sent to troops with ties to Walworth County who are deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
