On Unpaid tickets? Delavan police naming names on Facebook

I can see the only thing we "agree on" is that we "disagree" which is fine. I will point out that the lists of warrants and who owes for them is all a matter of Public Record. It is no different than when the Gazette puts the Court Records in the Newspapers or Online. So really, there isn't any difference between a public forum like the newspaper, which many people see, or now Facebook, which many people will see too. The common denominator is that it is all still a matter Public Record, the only difference is in what "public forum" it is printed in, i.e. paper, or electronically.

A vigilante scheme to catch absconders who don't pay their fines? how is that a vigilante scheme? How about we just hold people responsible for a change?

If you don't want the "scarlet letter" on your chest, pay your fines or stay current with your payment plans. Seems simple enough.

I might also ask...how is it not "crappy" on the part of the folks that DON'T pay their fines? instead it's the "Police" and "crappy work" that you target? Seriously, have you looked at those fines?

There is no expectation of privacy on Facebook, it's open to the public. CCAP only deals with CIRCUIT Court, MUNICIPAL Court fines and cases are not entered into CCAP.
I'm not sure how you can argue that the Police aren't doing the "leg work" as you put it or this is "crappy police work" as you so elequently said. Seems to me that this is pretty good Police work as they are making use of resources that are available to them. Facebook is a technology and public resource that has evolved and over 500 million people use. It seems the Police are doing their "leg work" by using it to help clear some warrants. It's no different than Janesville Pd using the big billboard on Hwy 14 to use to show some of Janesville's most wanted. It is also no different that Police Departments that put wanted fugitives on their websites. Some TV stations I have seen do segments on people that are wanted. Take a look around before you call it "crappy Police work" Good job Delavan PD, hope you clear them all.

On Crowding remains an issue at Walworth County Jail

The 65 percent number is probably those that are arrested and have bond settings the next day, in other words they are released the next day on a small cash bond or released on signature bonds.

On Delavan Lake goose kill will go on

and let me guess, everyone who is against this killing is a vegetarian? the geese are not going to be left there, they will be used to FEED people. Don't complain about a few geese as you chomp down on your steak, chicken, pork....how many products do you use in a day that may be products from animals? if the geese were being wasted and thrown out, that's one thing. They are not going to be wasted, but used to help feed some people that may really need it. Chill out with the judgements and take a look at your own life and eating habits!

Most likely because Walworth Co contracts with the Fed govt to house Federal prisoners. Not every County jail does that...
