On DPI orders Mukwonago to drop Indians nickname

CardinalGirl, yes he did, yet Columbus gets the credit. Deeds without promotion end up being about the same as no deeds at all. It's not that Columbus was the first, it's that Columbus was the loudest.

On County considers stricter enforcement of bartender liability law

OR, just a crazy thought, we could actually PUNISH the people who made the poor mistake of getting behind the wheel while drunk and actually prosecute the people who deserve to be prosecuted. It's time to stop blaming everyone else - the bartenders, the police, the roads, the cars, the neighbors, the ex-wife, and start blaming the people who are actually at fault!

Ah yes, "no one cares about" the holiday. Do you feel that guilty about everything? This country did what every other country did in order to be formed. If Columbus had failed, surely another would have gone forward in his place.

Do you believe the Indians were peaceful? Not a chance. Sorry.

Perhaps that's why the vote to impose it failed so many times before it finally squeaked through. It should never have been passed in the first place.

This isn't about honoring someone either. From now on, even a mention of someone to be honored by, for, or nearby the wrong people will be cause for someone, somewhere to be offended. There is no such thing as consensus and someone is always offended somewhere.

On High-speed chase Sunday leads deputies through East Troy

If he'd have stopped when they tried to pull him over in the first place, there would have been no chase. Any blood that might have happened is just that - a might have been, and it would have been on this perp's hands. The police didn't decide to run.

On Neighborhood hopes to limit encroachment of student housing

The college has always had a love-hate relationship with commuter students. They love their money, but would rather people stay on or near campus all the time. At the first chance they get though, they kick them off campus during Thanksgiving and Spring break, but I digress.

My point before is that anyone who owns a house near the campus area should have known a long time ago that it was only a matter of time before the campus housing situation expanded to include their areas. The same forces that have caused this expansion aren't wholly under the control of the college either and those students must have a place to live.

It's like the homeless, in a way. You can legislate them away if you think it would work, but it doesn't change the fact that they're going to be there, under the radar. Removing landlords will only encourage property owners to rent under the radar. Restricting those landlords will only encourage those students to lie about their situations.

Not to disparage their efforts, but they should have seen this coming. It's not like the college is well hidden. Such institutions tend to grow and as they do, so does the need for places to put students.

The reality of the situation is that even if this passes, it won't stop progress forever.

On Auction to raise money for Gygax memorial in Lake Geneva

I don't think he really liked the d20 system nor the way WotC forced it to become a standard. I think he'd much prefer the other, more oddly numbered d4, d8, and d12 dies. IMO, of course.
