On Newly ratified Palmyra-Eagle teacher contract eliminates seniority
Posted on May 31 at 1:03 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
Most districts seem to be moving in this direction, except for the seniority item. Many teachers and other district staff members are leaving in droves throughout the state. Most of the school districts will see a big shift with many young, inexperienced teachers and I think we will also see fewer graduates in the teaching field. It's a sad thing to say that we seem to find all the money for providing the best facilities we can for the local jails, spent more money per prisoner, instead of spending more money on educating those same students so they stay out of the system. And I will also add that family values also plays a very important role in this equation as well.
On Agenda: Elkhorn school board to discuss teacher contract negotiations

The agenda states "discuss contract negotiations with the unions representing teachers and other staff". Any vote cannot be made in a closed session - the members will have to vote in Open Session.
If you think the school board "sacks it to the taxpayer" - run for school board! Anyone who is over the age of 18 and a US citizen with no felony (unless they were pardoned by the governor) can run for the school board in which they reside, in the State of Wisconsin.

On Walworth County schools remain open despite teacher protests over budget bill
Posted on February 17 at 1:25 p.m. ( Suggest removal )
I agree that something needs to be done regarding the State budget woes. But...I have failed to hear any news media address the actual dollars that will be taken out of the WI revenue stream. Depending on what your benefits are - the average is probably $5,000 a year, per household. That means for every family that ends up paying that much more a year - which will come out of their actual pay, they won't be putting that money into the economy. e.g., Entertainment (movie theaters, restaurants); replacing a car; upgrades to your home (which a lot of people are now doing) to include items as appliances, carpeting, painting; school fund raising for classroom items, etc.; charitable causes.
This is going to be a disaster - you don't just cut things cold turkey. This is sort of like the old adage - throwing the baby out with the bath water.
On Mukwonago men sue to keep 'Indians' nickname

Mukwonago - Indian name - maybe the state or individual that filed the original complaint should complain that the name of the city is also offensive and race-based. I'm so tired of having to waste our tax dollars on *&!@ like this! I think the DPI should be worrying more about the actual education of our students than the name of the mascot.
If there are racial problems within the school, that's where it should be handled.

And how much money did we spend "protecting" this being in jail? Has justice actually been served? I pity the family of the little girl hearing of this contemplated atrocity!!!
