The Lakeland Animal Shelter is working on a two-phase plan to expand and remodel the facility in Delavan Township.
Lakeland Animal Shelter attendant Caty Makurat of Elkhorn brings cares for a cat last week in the isolation trailer adjacent to the main building. The trailer houses incoming cats as well as the surgery room where cats are spayed or neutered before adoption. The trailer next to the main building is where cats brought to the shelter are first housed. The Lakeland Animal Welfare Society is hoping to build a new facility to help relieve increasingly crowded conditions.
