— Gordy Lamphere of Lake Geneva was named today to the U.S. Sailing Team Sperry Topsider along with 33 other of the US's best sailors. He is training in the Finn class and is one of two in that class who will be funded partially by the U.S. Lamphere has been training extensively for the past year and has climbed steadily in the US and World International Sailing Federation rankings.

He is joined by Anne Haeger of Lake Beulah who is training in the Women's 470. Haeger and her crew Briana Provancha will be traveling with Lamphere to Europe for an event at the end of March. Haeger was top 470 team at the ISAF Miami event in December. Haeger was college sailor of the year in 2011 and won college singlehanded nationals three out of her four years.

Both Haeger and Lamphere participated in the Inland Lake Yachting Association's Opti and X program and sailed extensively in college. Both teams have been training in Miami most of the fall.
