HOLLAND, Mich. -- The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team defeated Amherst College 64-62 in overtime in a NCAA III Women's Basketball Championship Tournament semifinal Friday at Hope College in Holland, Mich. The Warhawks, 26-6, will face undefeated DePauw University 34-0 for the NCAA III title at 6 p.m. Saturday in Holland.

UW-W trailed by twelve, 52-40 with just over three minutes remaining. Senior guard and Whitewater High School graduate Megan Theune hit a three pointer for the Warhawks at 2:49 -- Whitewater's first three after missing its first eight attempts, to pull within 52-43.

With 2:17 left junior guard Mary Merg hit another three, this time left of the key, to narrow the gap to 52-46. With 0:53 on the clock Merg did it again, from the top of the key, closing the deficit to 52-49. Amherst scored to make it 54-49, but a Warhawk basket kept it at a one possession game, 54-51.

As time ran out, Merg pulled up from near the key and drilled the tying shot as the buzzer sounded.
