Single-digit temps, bitter wind chill today
WALWORTH COUNTY A wind chill advisory remains in effect until noon today for southeastern Wisconsin, including Walworth County.
According to the National Weather Service office in Sullivan, wind chill values will drop to 20-25 degrees below zero by daybreak Tuesday.
With wind chills this low, frostbite to exposed skin can occur in 20 to 30 minutes. Hypothermia can also develop if precautions are not taken. When venturing outdoors in this weather, wear a hat and gloves.
The high temperature Tuesday is predicted to be about 5 degrees. Temperatures will warm up to the low 20s by Wednesday and Thursday, with a 50 percent chance of snow Thursday night.
