— American Transmission Company (ATC) is inviting Lake Geneva area residents to attend an open house on January 29 or January 30 to provide feedback on the potential routes of a proposed new electric transmission line called the Spring Valley-North Lake Geneva Transmission Line Project.

A brief on the City of Lake Geneva's website noted the project is designed to strengthen the electric transmission system serving southern Walworth and western Kenosha counties to meet the growing use of electricity in the area. The project will also provide operational flexibility for maintenance and repairs.

Attendees of the open house sessions will be able to discuss system route options with representatives from ATC. Following the open houses, ATC will narrow the route alternatives and host an additional open house later in 2013 with more specific route information. ATC plans to submit an application to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin in spring 2014 for approval to construct the line.

Open Houses:

• Tuesday, Jan. 29, 3-7 p.m. at Hawk's View Golf Club, 7377 Krueger Rd., Geneva

• Wednesday, Jan. 30, 3-8 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 24929 75th St., Paddock Lake
