The proposed 2013 Walworth County budget includes $1.5 million for interior and exterior improvements to the Walworth County Shooting Range, located on Hodges Road in the town of LaFayette.

— A public hearing on changes to God’s Country Ranch, located at W4576 County Highway ES in LaFayette Township, which includes a private tennis court, a recreational building and a firearms range, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wed., Feb. 6, at LaFayette Town Hall, on the corner on Cobb and Potter roads in LaFayette Township.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office currently trains and operates a gun range nearby on Hodges Road, but that facility is not associated with God's Country Ranch.

The proposal includes adding a 100-foot by 80-foot ropes course, complete with tactical rescue ladders, and constructing a berm to the north and west of the firing range to deflect noise from the surrounding residential properties.

Last year, neighbors, concerned for their safety, asked that changes be made to the gun range. Read the Walworth County Sunday story HERE.
