— The UW-Rock women's and men's basketball teams had totally opposite games Wednesday night, which only turned out well for the women.

The Rattler women outscored visiting UW-Richland, 37-27, in the second half to pull out a 53-51 victory.

The men's team, meanwhile, built a 40-30 halftime lead, only to lose to Richland, 73-66.

Courtney Draeving scored 12 points, and Janesville Parker graduate Julia Dement added 11 to help the Rattlers rally for the victory.

"We couldn't score in the first half," UW-Rock coach Scott Lee said about the first 20 minutes that ended with the visitors ahead, 24-16.

"We didn't make too many adjustments at halftime, but we did a better job of taking care of the ball," Lee said. "We started to run our halfcourt press, and we turned them over 25 times. It wouldn't have been that close had we made our free throws."

The women's squad went to 3-1 in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference.

The men's squad lost despite a third straight double-double by Janesville Parker graduate David Harper, who had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

"We turned the ball over more in the second half," Lee said. "We thought we were in control, but then it slowly slipped away."

The men's squad fell to 0-2 in the WCC and 3-3 overall.

Both teams are in action tonight when the Rattlers travel to Grayslake, Ill., to play Division II opponent College of Lake County.
