Kindler repeats as first-teamer

WHITEWATER — Eric Kindler got is foot into another All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first-team selection.

Kindler, a UW-Whitewater junior, was named the conference's first-team kicker for the second straight season.

Five teammates joined Kindler on the first team. Jimmy Norris, a 6-foot-2, 283-pound senior lineman joined Kindler on the elite offensive squad.

Loussaint Minett, a 6-foot, 238-pound junior out of Whitewater High, and Jake Hohlstein, a 6-1, 280-pound senior were first-team defensive linemen.

Junior linebacker Kyle Wismer and senior defensive back Ryan Wenkman rounded out the Whitewater players honored.

Kindler converted 17 of 25 field-goal attempts, with the longest from 46 yards. Kindler also earned honorable mention at punter after averaging 41.8 yards per punt, with 10 being downed inside the 20.

Norris was the starting left guard. The Warhawks allowed the second fewest sacks in the league and averaged 4.1 yards a carry.

Minett, a defensive end, was third in the WIAC with 11.5 tackles for losses, and added 5.5 sacks. He was the WIAC Defensive Player of the Week Nov. 12.

Hohlstein, a tackle, had 12 solo tackles and 6.5 tackles for losses.

Wismer had 24 solo tackles and 18 assisted, with nine tackles for losses. Wenkman made 33 solo tackles, assisted on 20 others, and led the team with five interceptions.

Linebacker Cole Klotz was a second-team selection, as were running back Desmin Ward and all-purpose back Bernie Tamsett.

Marcus McLin, a sophomore defensive back out of Delavan-Darien High, earned honorable mention. A pair of Warhawk linebackers, juniors Ryan Cortez and Josh Williams, also earned honorable mention.

Milton High graduate Hank McIvor, a 5-9, 165-pound senior running back at UW-Platteville, earned honorable mention.

Quarterback Nate Wara, who led UW-Oshkosh to an undefeated regular season, earned the George Chryst Coach of the Year honor.
