Janesville Craig’s Weber controls Badger, Parker falls
The Janesville Craig senior pitcher fired a complete-game four-hitter to lead the Cougars to a 4-0 win in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal win.
Craig (17-6) plays at Westosha Central on Thursday.
Weber struck out six and did not walk a batter.
“Paige was in complete control the entire game,” Craig coach Dan Bayreuther said. “I think she got ahead in the count on just about every batter.
“We played good defense behind her and executed offensively when we had to. It was a good overall game for us.”
Craig got the only run it needed in the bottom of the first. Haley Bayreuther singled, stole second and eventually scored on a Badger error. The Cougars added two more runs in the third on Leigh Grall’s sacrifice fly, and Stephanie Perleberg’s heads-up baserunning.

-- Waterford 11, Parker 1 (5)—Janesville Parker picked an inopportune time to play its worst defensive game of the season.
The Vikings committed eight errors, and Waterford took advantage to collect a five-inning victory in a WIAA Division 1 regional opener.
The visiting Vikings gave up four runs in the second and five runs in the third.
“I never expected eight errors,” said Parker coach Jenni Seisser, whose team finished 8-14 overall. “We’ve had games were we had a lot of errors, but not this extent.
“I know the girls were disappointed on how they played. They know they’ve played a lot better.”
Waterford improved to 12-10. Sophomore pitcher Maddie Szalewski held Parker to four hits. Juniors Alyssa Helwig and Alicia Barbian each went 2 for 3 and each had a double.
“To their credit, they have a disciplined hitting team,” Seisser said. “They hit the ball hard. We just typically come up with some of those.”
Brianna Lemmer had a double to lead Parker.
