Beloit defeats Janesville Craig in Big Eight dual
Connor Day’s 76 led Beloit Memorial to a 325-336 Big Eight Conference boys golf dual meet victory over Janesville Craig at Glen Erin Golf Club on Tuesday.
Craig’s Jordan Gagg led all golfers with a two-over 73.
“He played some fantastic golf,” said Craig coach Domanic Wiegel. “He got off to a bad start and had a couple of bad shots. He didn’t let that get to him.”
Wiegel said the Glen Erin course was playing tougher than normal due to difficult pin placements.
“Credit goes to the Purple Knights,” Wiegel said. “They had four players shoot 84 or lower. When you do that, you’ll win more than you lose.”
Craig is 2-5 in the Big Eight.
The Cougars and Purple Knights return to Glen Erin on Thursday, along with Janesville Parker, for the one-day Tri-City Invitational.
