Janesville wins grade-school tournament

— The Janesville Wildcats 6th-grade boys basketball team won four straight games for the Tri-County A League tournament championship at Middleton High School last weekend.

Janesville defeated Jefferson, 63-48, Stoughton, 68-52, Madison East, 63-49, and Monona Grove, 58-56, on Skyler Christensonís last-second shot in double overtime. Janesville avenged two loses to Monona Grove in the regular season, and spoiled its bid for an undefeated season.


Noah Berghammer scored 78 points overall to lead the Wildcats for the four-game tournament. Zach Currie scored 58 points and Blake McCann added 49 for Janesville.


Janesville finished second in the Tri-County League with an 11-3 record.


Members of the Janesville Wildcat team include: Joey Hoeser, Chris Galvan, Ross March, Kade Salemi, Luke Malmanger, Skyler Christenson, Zach Currie, Blake McCann, and Noah Berghammer. Mike Berghammer and Troy McCann coached Janesville.
