— In his continuing search for the unexplained, Mark O’Connell discovered Burlington is no slouch when it comes to paranormal activity.

Writer O’Connell, who covers UFOs on his blog, gives an account of his meeting with Mary Sutherland, owner of Burlington’s Sci-Fi Café in his article “Close Encounters” in the January issue of Milwaukee Magazine, and in a Jan. 21 radio interview with Mitch Teich, executive producer on WUWM’s Lake Effect.

O’Connell talks about the Sci-Fi Café —home to the annual Burlington Vortex Conference — and Sutherland’s area tours of the paranormal, from ancient mound builders who once resided in the area to Burlington’s vortex, a two-way portal into the vast unknown.

“It turns out the Burlington has the strongest vortex in the world,” O’Connell tells Teich.
