— Dan Necci, 31, a Delavan attorney, will run for Walworth County district attorney, according to a post Friday evening on his Twitter account.

Necci, a Republican, ran unsuccessfully in the fall of 2010 for the 32nd Assembly seat now held by Tyler August.

On his Twitter account, @danecci, wrote, "After many requests and much prayer I have entered the race for Wal. Co. D.A. Please follow @necci4da. Thanks and G.B."

He also launched a campaign Twitter account, @necci4da.

Richard Sullivan, 42, of 206 Prairie Drive, Walworth, also a Republican, is the only other announced candidate so far for the D.A. post. Sullivan currently is a Rock County assistant district attorney.

Current Walworth County D.A. Phillip Koss is running for the for the Branch I Circuit Court seat, currently held by Judge Robert Kennedy. Kennedy said he does not intend to run for another term, and he threw his support behind the county's longtime district attorney.

Koss' shift to circuit court judge would clear the way for a new district attorney. He has held that position since 1990.

Koss' term is up next fall. Gov. Scott Walker would appoint someone to hold that position until a new prosecutor is elected.
