Grand Geneva sees uptick in occupancy rates
LAKE GENEVA The Grand Geneva Resort and Spa in Lake Geneva saw a 4 percent increase in occupancy rates in 2011 compared to 2010, according to a report by Mark Kass in the Milwaukee Business Journal.
The luxury hotel/convention center/resort, owned by the Marcus Corp., has spent $20 million in renovations over the last few years. Grand Geneva's director of sales and marketing says the largest share of increase last year has been in leisure traffic, which has typically dropped for most hotels since the economic downturn.
In 2008 and 2009, the Grand Geneva saw declines in occupancy rates, followed by a 30 percent increase in 2010 over 2009.
