Buell's back and still one-of-a-kind in mass-marketed motorcycle world
EAST TROY Erik Buell survived a break with motorcycle giant Harley-Davidson and the crash of a post-startup, Buell Motorcycle Company, to gain international recognition with his racing bikes, created by new company Erik Buell Racing.
It's a marvelous rebirth, but with 2011 seeing only 100 street racers produced--and priced around $40,000 each--how is EBR doing? Pretty well, according to a new profile of Buell in the online issue of Entrepreneur by Jennifer Wang.
The story traces Buell from local roots to international fame, with the bumps in between--including a stint in rock band Erik Buell and the Thunderbolts.
Buell and his tiny American company--fewer than 20 employees--Wang says, isn't afraid to take on the heavily European-run world of sport bikes. And he's determined to buck a sluggish economy.

Far fewer than 200 employees; less than 20 per the article. Quote "It was a coup for EBR, a company of fewer than 20 people with an extremely limited 2011 production run of just 100 exotic street racers, priced between $37,499 and $43,999.
