— A noose was found in a residence hall at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside late Wednesday afternoon, according to a report on the university’s website.

Early Thursday morning, the person who found the noose in the Pike River Suites residence hall received a threatening note, the story related, and that person is being cared for, said Cindy Graham, interim dean of students.

UW-Parkside Police and Public Safety and other university departments are conducting an investigation into the matter.

University administrators met with some 30 students Thursday afternoon, and two all-campus meetings were scheduled later that day, according to the website.

Chancellor Deborah Ford responded to the incident, saying, “At the University of Wisconsin-Parkside we’re proud of the diverse living and learning environment the campus offers our students, faculty, staff and the communities we serve. The type of behavior displayed by a very small number of people is not tolerated and will not be tolerated here.”
