Fort Atkinson holds off Monroe, other scores

Fort Atkinson’s boys basketball team was clutch at the free-throw line Tuesday.


The Blackhawks made 11 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off Monroe 50-46 in a Badger South Conference game.


Tanner Boos had 17 points and made seven free throws in the fourth quarter to lead Fort Atkinson (11-5, 5-3).


Alex Barenklau had a game-high 24 points for Monroe.

-- Belleville 58, Evansville 51—Garrison Woods scored 14 of his 20 points in the fourth to erase the Blue Devils’ 34-25 third-quarter lead and carry Belleville to the victory.


The Wildcats’ Jared Rear scored 20 points to share scoring honors with Woods. Owen Schoenenberger scored 14 points for Evansville and Danny Walczak added 11 points.

-- Badger 45, Whitewater 32—Badger controlled the game and defeated visiting Whitewater in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday.


Jacob Growel scored 17 points to lead the Badgers, who led, 13-6, at the end of one quarter.


Jacob Kozlowski added 10 points for Badger (4-12). The Badgers hit eight three-pointers, including four by Growel.


Paul Pelayo scored eight points to lead the Whippets (4-11).

-- Delavan-Darien 66, Edgerton 63—Dylan Heller sank a three-point basket at the buzzer Tuesday to give Delavan-Darien its first win of the season, 66-63, over Edgerton in nonconference boys high school basketball.


The Tide’s Evan Deegan sank one of two free throws with seven seconds remaining to tie it 63-63. The Comets took the ball up court and in a scramble, Heller stepped behind the arc and hit the game-winner as time expired.


The victory lifts Delavan-Darien 1-14 overall. Edgerton falls to 6-10.


Edgerton trailed 36-29 at the half, but took a 24-15 advantage in the third quarter for a 53-51 lead. Edgerton never led by more than three points in the fourth quarter.


Danny Supernaw and Brooks Johnson scored 14 points apiece for Edgerton, which missed 11 free throws. Heller finished with 16 points and Steph Rodriguez added 14 points for Delavan-Darien.

Tanner Plumb scored 30 points, and Nate Dodge added 29 as the Trojans improved to 14-2.


Myles Olsen added 14 points for the Trojans, who led 85-35 going into the final quarter.


Waukesha South is 1-15.
