Wis. supt. offers condolences on Connecticut school shooting
MADISON Wisconsin's top education official is offering prayers and support to victims of the Connecticut school shooting and their families.
Department of Public Instruction Secretary Tony Evers says he's keeping all the students, parents and staff at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., in his heart and prayers.
Evers condemns the shooting as a "senseless act of violence" and says the community of Newtown has been changed forever.
Evers says these are difficult times for parents and schoolchildren everywhere, including Wisconsin. He says people must support and care for their children as they hear about the tragedy and try to understand something that is "incomprehensible and senseless."
