Janesville woman laid to rest as police continue investigation

HARVARD, ILL — The funeral for Traci Moyer is this morning while investigators continued to piece together the circumstances surrounding her death.

Moyer, 45, was found dead by Janesville police at 3 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in the home of her estranged husband, Krystofer Carlisle.

Moyer's funeral is at 11:30 a.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 504 E. Diggins St., Harvard, IL 60033. Interment will be at McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.

Moyer, who worked at USG Interiors in Walworth according to her obituary, was born in Elgin, Ill., and was a 1984 Harvard High School graduate.

In an online guest book, Moyer was remembered as a wonderful coworker. "I will always remember her for her good nature, her kind smile, and her pleasant and positive attitude. She will be missed by all who know her," read one post.

Carlisle was arrested Wednesday and faces a charge of first-degree intentional homicide in her death, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department. Police are calling her death a homicide, and say an autopsy performed Monday indicated the cause of death was “ligature strangulation,” according to a news release.

The investigation moved slowly during the week following Moyer’s death because police say they were unable to interview Carlisle. At the time police discovered Moyer’s body, they also found Carlisle in the home, but he was unconscious and in “medical distress,” according to police reports.

Police went to Carlisle’s home at 315 W. Racine St. in Janesville after one of Moyer’s daughters and a neighbor found Moyer’s car running in the driveway of the home. They couldn’t get inside the home, according to police reports and accounts by the neighbors.

Moyer in November filed court papers to divorce Carlisle, according to police.

Carlisle in 2010 changed his name from Thomas A. Moyer II, according to online court records.
