Walworth County expected to ban concealed weapons in county buildings

— Concealed weapons won't be allowed in Walworth County owned buildings if an ordinance passes the county board Oct. 11 as expected. The Walworth County Board of Supervisors’ Executive Committee on Sept. 19 unanimously approved a draft ordinance prohibiting firearms in county facilities.

With the state’s new carrying concealed weapon law scheduled to take effect Nov. 1, the committee — Dave Weber, Dan Kilkenny, Rich Brandl, Randy Hawkins and Nancy Russell — moved the measure ahead with one small revision concerning the shooting range.

The full board is scheduled to take up the ordinance, which requires a majority vote to pass, at its next regular meeting, which will be Oct. 11. However, Weber said it could be discussed at the special board meeting Thursday ... CONTINUED
