UW-Rock County students observe Banned Books Week
The list of books some groups want to ban may be surprising. Among them, according to UW-Rock County Associate Professor of English Dr. John Pruitt, are Huckleberry Finn, Harry Potter, and a true story about two male zoo penguins raising a chic together.
Pruitt says some people fear progressive thought, over worries it'll change traditional points of view. This is why he's eager to lead a discussion on campus about the importance of acknowledging different perspectives.
A free public reading in recognition of Banned Books Week will be held Thrusday from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the lower lobby of Allen Hall.
