— A Waukesha-based generator manufacturer will host a job fair at its Whitewater facility today in an effort to fill as many as 300 assembly positions.

Generac announced earlier this month it would add 400 jobs at its Wisconsin manufacturing facilities. Company executives, joined during the announcement by Gov. Scott Walker and other state legislators, indicated Generac was trying to meet greater demand for generators in the wake of power outages and severe weather across the nation.

The company hopes to fill the positions within the next three months.

The job fair today in Whitewater is the company’s second in three weeks. More than 1,000 applicants showed up Nov. 9 at a similar event in Waukesha, some waiting in line close to an hour for an interview.

Prospective employees today will meet with hiring managers about Generac career opportunities, according to a news release from the company. Generac is recruiting assembly workers, production supervisors, manufacturing engineers, technicians and quality advisors.

Generac will spread the positions across its three locations: Eagle, Whitewater and its headquarters in Waukesha.
