Janesville Parker, Craig drop Big Eight duals

— Matt Knutson recorded the lone victory for the Janesville Parker boys tennis team Monday in a 6-1 Big Eight Conference loss to Madison West.

Knutson defeated Jimmy Storck, 6-2, 7-5.


“It was a really good win for Matt at No. 1 singles,” Vikings coach Mike Furhmann.


Next up for Parker (2-13 overall, 0-9 Big Eight) is the Big Eight meet Thursday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.

Verona blanks Craig

Janesville Craig High School suffered a 7-0 loss Monday to Verona to conclude the Big Eight dual-meet season.


“Verona overpowered us in singles,” said Craig coach Justin Long. “We played well at doubles and had opportunities to win, but the ball didn’t bounce our way.’’


Craig travels to the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison for the Big Eight meet on Thursday.
