Record field expected for Ashenfelter tournament Saturday
The 58th annual event, scheduled for Saturday at Riverside Golf Course, will include a record 43 teams in the two-division field.
Hartland Arrowhead is the three-time defending champion in Division 1 and is one of 22 teams entered. Milwaukee Marquette returns after finishing second last year, and Janesville Craig, third a year ago, is entered along with Janesville Parker.
Arrowhead’s John Langhoff is back to defend his individual title after winning with a 2-under par 70 a year ago.
Arrowhead has won the last four WIAA Division 1 team championships and will be heavily favored to make it four straight Ashenfelter titles. The Warriors won last year’s Ashenfelter with an impressive 289 total.
Waukesha Catholic Memorial is back to defend its Division 2 team title, while runner-up Waukesha North is back along with third-place finisher Racine St. Catherine’s.
A shotgun start is scheduled for 8 a.m.
