DELAVAN — Classic cars, collector motorcycles, drag racers and stock cars. They’ll all be displayed in downtown Delavan on July 10.

Car enthusiasts from the Stateline area have Pete Krieger and his friends, Joe Salas and Terry Furseth, to thank.

“I’ve been involved with cars since I was 14,” said Krieger, 66, who modifies cylinder heads for nostalgic cars out of his home. “A lot of people around here grew up in the ’60s and ’70s and had cars like this. Now that they’re older, many of them would like to find that same old car they used to have, maybe modify it, and this gives them a chance to show off what they do and create.”

And what they’ve created is all a part of the Cars Time Forgot show, a noncompetitive event in which businesses can purchase plaques that they, in turn, present to show participants for what the business owners regard as their favorite vehicles on display — one plaque per car.

Krieger said last year’s sixth annual event featured 210 registered vehicles, and organizers expect a similar turnout for the 2011 show.
