Beloit Snappers’ rally falls short

— The Beloit Snappers rallied for four runs in the sixth inning Sunday but lost 6-4 to the Lansing Lugnuts in Midwest League baseball.

Lansing rolled to a 3-0 lead on Carlos Perez’s three-run homer off Snappers’ starter B.J. Hermsen. The Lugnuts increased their lead to 5-0 with two runs in the fifth.


Beloit scored four times in the sixth to cut its deficit to 5-4. Jairo Perez hit a bases-loaded, three-run double. The Snappers were held hitless the rest of the way.


Hermsen (10-7) allowed five runs on six hits to take the loss.
