JANESVILLE Janesville, Wis.,-based Mercy Health System has revived a plan to build a 128-bed hospital in Crystal Lake, Ill.
The health care provider last week filed an application with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board. The application was one of two submitted recently.
The other comes from Centegra Health System, which wants to build a similar-sized hospital in nearby Huntley.
Mercy announced plans for a Crystal Lake hospital five years ago, but the agency charged with approving the application became bogged down in an investigation.
Mercy’s plan calls for a $200 million acute-care hospital and physician clinic at the corner of Route 31 and Three Oaks Road. One hundred beds would be medical surgical, 20 obstetrics and eight for intensive care, according to a story on triblocal.com
Mercy operates Mercy Walworth Medical Center in Geneva Township, as well as Mercy Hospital in Janesville.
