— Village of East Troy officials will hold a public hearing at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1 on the proposed Downtown Design District. The meeting will be held at Ivan's on the Square.

The new regulations are intended to improve the look of the downtown area by preserving the historical and visual aesthetics of the community, according to a draft of the ordinance.

Any new residential construction in the district will have to be approved by the village's plan commission.

Non-residential construction will have to conform to specific requirements regulating elements such as setbacks, height, roof forms and exterior materials.

The proposed district includes revisions to the village of East Troy's Zoning Ordinance and will be presented by planner Mike Slavney from Vandewalle & Associates. Coffee, juice and rolls will be served.

Highway 20 project

The Wisconsin DOT will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. March 3, at East Troy Middle School about the proposed Highway 20 corridor project.

The open house will begin with a presentation at 6 p.m. by Wisconsin Department of Transportation staff to share the draft of a transportation planning study report for the Wisconsin 20 corridor from US Highway 12, about 10 miles east of Whitewater, to Wisconsin 31 in Racine County.
