— The Wisconsin women’s basketball team defeated Boston College, 58-50, Wednesday night at the Kohl Center in the 2011 Big Ten/ACC Challenge game.

Wisconsin (3-5) picks up its third Big Ten/ACC Challenge win, improving to 3-2 in the series, while the Eagles (2-3) fall to 2-2 in the annual series.


The Badgers’ attack featured three players scoring double figures with Taylor Wurtz scoring a game-high 19 points, including four three-point baskets. Anya Covington added 13 points, and Ashley Thomas chipped in 10 points.


The Badgers were 21-of-48 (43.8 percent) from the field and 7-of-19 (36.8 percent) from three-point range. Boston College finished 19-of-44 (43.2 percent) from the field and 3-of-15 (20.0 percent) on three-point baskets. Both teams made nine free throws, with UW shooting 81.8 percent (9-of-11), but Boston College shot just 64.3 percent (9-of-14).
