Beloit Snappers win game two, earn split with Kernels

— A five-run third inning helped the Beloit Snappers earn a 9-1 win over Cedar Rapids on Sunday and a split of their Midwest League doubleheader at Pohlman Field.

The Kernels won game one, 5-3.


Michael Gonzales homered in both games for the Snappers, while Martire Garcia (2-0) earned the win for Beloit in relief in game two.


Beloit, 6-4 in the Western Division of the Midwest League, begins a six-game road trip tonight when it starts a three-game series against the Wisconsin TimberRattlers.
