— Despite sweeping doubles competition, Janesville Parker’s girls tennis team came up short in a Big Eight Conference match against Madison La Follette on Wednesday.

The Lancers swept all four singles matches en route to a 4-3 win in a match that was originally scheduled for Tuesday.

“We played pretty well, even in the matches we lost, but we came up a little short at the end,” Parker coach Justin Long said.

“Our doubles teams took care of business, but La Follette is real strong in singles and we couldn’t get a win in any of those four matches.”

Maddie Theisen and Kristin Zeilinger won at No. 1 doubles for the Vikings, while Kim Amundson and Danielle Boyd were victorious at No. 2 doubles. The Vikings’ No. 3 doubles team of Melanie Whitescarver and Gretchen Genrich also posted a victory.

Parker (3-2) will host Big Eight powerhouse Madison West today.
