WHITEWATER UW-Whitewater staff members are calling for more discussion and stronger signs of support for students affected by recent hate crimes on campus.
Instructors, administrators and other officials attended a meeting Tuesday, sharing ideas for how the university should respond to three incidents over the last two months.
Some felt the problem was sociological, some said it was cultural, but most agreed there needed to be more action to ease students’ concerns.
Suggestions were as simple as a bracelet or a T-shirt. Others recommended posters or fliers offering various resources.
The idea was to show students they are behind them.
No official decisions were made, but Provost Bev Kopper indicated there might be further discussions.
