Kali Schneider, a Craig High junior, will be Janesville’s only representative this weekend in the girls WIAA state swim meet.

Schneider became an extra qualifier Sunday in two events after her performances Saturday in the tough Division 1 sectional at Middleton. She advanced with a 2:14.69 time in the 200-yard individual medley and a 1:10.41 in the 100 breaststroke.

The Lake Geneva Badger co-op came out of the Division 1 sectional at Greenfield with extra qualifiers in three events to go along with its four champions.

Sectional champions in all events earned automatic state berths. The extra qualifiers for Division 1 are the next 18 fastest (excluding sectional champions) in each event from sectionals across the state. Division 2 extra qualifiers are the next 12 fastest.

Milton, which won the team title in the Division 2 sectional at Baraboo, picked up 10 extra qualifiers to join its four event champions. Fort Atkinson, the Cudahy Sectional champion, has six extra qualifiers for Division 2 to go along with four event winners.

Elkhorn, which also was in the Cudahy Sectional, has five extra qualifiers to join senior Ashley Nelson, a champion in 200 and 500 freestyle events.

The Division 2 state meet is Friday night, and

Division 1 is Saturday, both at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium in Madison.
