Mauermann scores tying goal, but Jets fall in shootout
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. The Janesville Jets lost a shootout to the Springfield Blues, 4-3, in North American Hockey League play here Friday night.
Ross Mauermann, a Janesville Parker High School graduate, scored with 1 minute, 43 seconds left in regulation to send it to overtime, 3-3.
After a scoreless overtime, the Blues topped the Jets, 2-0, in the shootout for the victory.
The Jets squandered a 2-0 lead in the second period as the Blues scored back-to-back goals.
Springfield scored within the first two minutes of the third for a 3-2 lead before Mauermann sent the game into overtime.
Springfield will host Janesville at 7 tonight.
