Pellet-gun shooter accidentally injures two at Whitewater party

— What began with friends "messing around" at a Whitewater party Thursday ended with two people being shot by a pellet gun.

A 19-year-old and a 20-year-old man were struck at 9:40 p.m. Thursday in an apartment at 340 N. Newcomb St., Whitewater, according to a news release from the Whitewater Police Department.

One victim was transported to the hospital to have a pellet removed from his chest, the release states. The other victim was treated and released.

Alcohol was present at the party, and everyone at the party were friends, the release states.

The injuries took place when several subjects were “messing around” with the pellet gun, according to the release.

The incident still is under investigation, and charges could be forthcoming. ended minutes before 11 p.m. Thursday.
