— The Department of Natural Resources is updating hunters around the state on results from the 2009 deer hunt, and the format for this year's hunt.

The meeting for hunters in Rock, Jefferson and Southern Dodge Counties was held in Fort Atkinson Thursday night.

Area Wildlife Supervisor, Tim Lizotte, says their presentation included information on deer management, herd status, and the hunts scheduled for the affected counties. Lizotte says the number of deer harvested in the 2009 hunt places it 20th highest on record. Compared to 2008, the number of bucks taken was down 3% while the harvest for antlerless deer was down 27%.

Lizotte says there will be no significant changes in the 2010 hunt, which includes the regular nine day hunt, an early October hunt, and the popular holiday hunt.
