DeKALB –- Northern Illinois University officials have released the official comprehensive report on the February 2008 campus shootings.
The report is available on the NIU Web site, according to the spokesman.
NIU President John Peters has said the report will be on how the entire university reacted, including the police, Student Affairs and Information Technology Services departments.
The report is about the Feb. 14, 2008, shooting at Cole Hall. Five students were killed and at least 19 others were injured before the lone gunman turned the gun on himself.
The investigative summary was prepared by the NIU Department of Public Safety, and includes a timeline of events and a transcript of the radio traffic during the critical first hour following the initial report of a shooting.
Steven Kazmierczak, the Northern Illinois University graduate who killed five students and wounded 21 others in one of the worst college shootings in U.S. history, may have been motivated by anger toward his former campus, which he saw as a surrogate family, according to a 300-page report released by the university this morning.
