— The Clinton School District’s search for a new superintendent appears to be over.

The district has offered a contract to former Milton High School Principal Randy Refsland, who currently is the district administrator for the Waupun Area School District. “We’re just pleased and excited that he’s going to be joining the district,” said school board President Randy Gracyalny. “We felt that his previous experiences in Waupun and the background that he has and the leadership skills he has will be a real asset as we move forward with our primary goal of student achievement within the district.”

The school board is expected to approve the hiring at tonight's board meeting. Refsland will begin work in Clinton July 1, replacing retiring Superintendent Pam Kiefert, who has been on the job for three years.

Refsland’s salary had not been determined as of press time.

“We had a salary range, when we posted the position, of $100,000 to $130,000,” Gracyalny said.

Refsland said location was a major factor in his decision to pursue the Clinton position. Although he has been working in Waupun the past two years, his family remained in Milton.

“I see my wife on weekends,” Refsland said. “For me, this was perfect. Not only is Clinton a wonderful school district, but also it’s a good move for my family situation.”
