— One person is dead and another critically injured after a crash Thursday afternoon at Riverside Drive and Inman Parkway, according to a Town of Beloit Police Department press release.

Michael J. Rounds, 22, Beloit, died at the scene of accident that critically injured his wife, Britannie M. Rounds, 21.

After being taken to Beloit Memorial Hospital, she was flown to University Hospital, Madison, where she remained in critical condition Friday morning.

Rounds was driving north on Riverside Drive when his motorcycle collided with a southbound sport utility vehicle driven by John R. Stott, 64, Beloit, who was turning left onto Inman Parkway. Upon impact, both Rounds and his wife were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither was wearing a helmet and speeds are believed to be a factor in the crash, the release said.

A Rock County deputy coroner pronounced Michael Rounds dead at the scene, according to the release.

No citations have been issued but an investigation into the crash continues, according to the release.

The Wisconsin State Patrol was called to assist in reconstructing the accident. Both north and southbound lanes of traffic on Riverside Drive, from Azalea Terrace to Hillside Drive, were closed for more than three hours, according to the release.
