Big Foot at Union Grove
Time: 7 tonight.
Season records: Walworth Big Foot, 13-9 overall, 10-6 in Rock Valley South. Union Grove, 20-2 overall, 13-1 in Southern Lakes.
Tournament status: This is a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal game. The winner plays Delavan-Darien (19-4) or Cudahy (15-8) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lake Geneva Badger for the regional title and a berth in the lower bracket of the Janesville Craig Sectional. Fourth-seeded Big Foot defeated St. Francis, 65-59, in Tuesday’s regional opener. Top-seeded Union Grove received a bye.
Free throws: Union Grove comes off a Southern Lakes championship that included two victories over Division 1 contender Waterford (20-3). Big Foot has a 62-48 win over Badger, which handed Union Grove one of its two losses, 66-61.
Prediction Machine says: Union Grove 60, Big Foot 54.
Delavan-Darien at Cudahy
Time: 7 tonight.
Season records: Delavan-Darien record, 19-4 overall, 11-3 in Southern Lakes. Cudahy, 15-8 overall, 12-6 in Woodland Blue.
Tournament status: This is a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal game. The winner plays Union Grove (20-2) or Walworth Big Foot (13-9) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lake Geneva Badger for the regional title and a berth in the lower bracket of the Janesville Craig Sectional.
Free throws: Although Delavan-Darien can’t look past Cudahy, a shot at revenge for the Comets may be down the road. They lost to Union Grove twice in tying for second place in the Southern Lakes and were eliminated by the Broncos, 44-40, in year’s regional finals. Delavan-Darien has a 59-56 win over Big Foot this season. One of Cudahy’s signature wins was 49-40 over twice-beaten Union Grove.
