Suspect claims pot operation was only way to save father's farm

— A Mukwonago man accused of running a marijuana growing operation in order to save is father's farm faces multiple drug-related charges.

WISN TV reports that according to a criminal complaint, 44-year-old Wesley A. Weber, who lives on the property with his wife and father, told investigators, "I'm trying to support my father and trying to do what I have to do to not lose the farm... with the economy and rising costs, I saw an out and took it."

According to the criminal complaint, officers were called to the farm for a report of an injured woman. Officers saw pot plants in one of the rooms, and left to get a search warrant.

When police returned, they found 90 pot plants, pipes, bongs, rolling papers, grinders, a scale, and baggies for packaging marijuana.

Police also found garbage bags full of marijuana when they searched a barn on the farm's property.

Wesley Weber, and his 41-year-old wife, Joella Weber, both face charges of manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to deliver, maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of paraphernalia.

They are due back in Waukesha County Court Friday.
